The male Superb Fairy-wren is among the most brightly coloured of the species. They have rich blue and black plumage above and on the throat. They are social by nature, and usually seen in a little group consisting of one dominant males, several females and juveniles. Superb Fairy-wrens are found south of the Tropic of Capricorn through eastern Australia and Tasmania to the south-eastern corner of South Australia.
